Modig Internal Disciplines specializes in Hatha Tantric Yoga, Evidence Based Tai Chi, Qi Gong and Kung Fu. Instructor, Joel Moodie has his certification in Kripalu Yoga and has intensively studied yoga for over 18 years when he was a resident of the Kripalu Center. He has certification in Evidence Based Tai Chi, Qi Gong and brings the beneficial foundations of both yoga and martial arts together seamlessly. Modig focuses on the authentic approach to the practices we teach.


Joel has been practicing and studying yoga for over 20 years. He first went to the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in 1999 where he became a resident and volunteer of Kripalu yoga. He studied under the instruction of Yoganand Michael Carroll (who was a renunciation of yoga for 16 years before he took on students). Joel embraced the authentic foundation of these practices and consciously lived by them when he was a resident. He was certified as a Yoga Teacher from Kripalu in 2001. He also earned his certification as Reiki Master, while at Kripalu. Under his teacher Yoganand, Joel went through several additional trainings to enhance his practice. He studied the Deeper Practices and advanced approaches to yoga. In 2002, Joel found the connection between yoga and martial arts. He began his official training in Jow Ga Kung Fu around that time, then progressed to Evidence Based Tai Chi and Qi Gong. Joel is a well rounded and inspiring teacher whose knowledge is vast and deep in the authentic bases of these practices. He is a very comprehensive and attentive instructor who love what he does. Students enjoy taking class with him because he is able to meet them where ever they are in their practice and he is able to make essential connections between physical, mental, and energetic health, and key levels between these elements where people can thrive.
